The many different fireplace designs are varied and some are really classic designs which have been around for centuries.
The more modern fireplace designs are usually integrated in the more modern homes with modern interior designs. While homes with an older or classic design have classic fireplace designs to complement the older look and ambience of the home interior. The designs of the fireplaces usually depend on the preference of the home owner and the design of the architect.
Common Fireplace Designs
Most outer fireplace designs are either made of brick, concrete and sometimes marble. These three materials are made into as many imaginable designs as a person can conceptualize. There are three main fireplace designs that need to be considered before you consider the outer looks of a fireplace. Gas burning, wood burning and electric fires should be considered for whatever design you want.
These three working fireplace designs are usually put in before you put in the outer designs of the fireplace. Many people prefer the convenience of either gas or electric fireplace because they do not have to make a log or piece of wood catch fire. For either of these two fireplace options, you just push a button or switch on the electric or gas and voila! You have a fire. You do not even have to have a log for these types of fire.
On the other hand, log fireplace designs are the classic ones and any people still prefer the smell of burning logs and the crackling sound of wood burning. These classic fireplace designs need a fireplace screen in case of embers or sparks flying off the logs. The screen keeps the sparks and embers away from any flammable rugs or carpets that may be located near the fireplace.
Whatever type of fireplace design you might choose for your home, it is better to make sure that it fits the theme of your house. A modern design will not go well with an older house. Usually, older homes have classic fireplaces that are made of brick or concrete and made with burning logs in mind. The warmth generated by a fireplace can easily envelope an entire room.
