Dryer Vent Can Be A Reason For Concern

When you think of the maintenance of your clothes dryer, there is a lot to keep in mind. Though it is likely something you think about the least, it could be the one cause you the biggest problem. Failure to maintain the dryer vent is the number one cause of clothes dryer related fires.

It is hard to understand the importance of ventilation maintenance if you do not understand the whole system in work.

While the clothes is being dried, the lint is being removed and blown outside through the ventilation ducts. The trap will capture only 60 percent of the lint that comes out of clothes dryer. This part of the clothes dryer should be pulled out, but do it before you dry the load and start removing the lint. Well, that is only 60%. And what will be with the 40%?

The part of the lint that managed to pass the trap is going outside, all the way through the duct system that comes out of your clothes dryer. The duct work is that weird looking hose that seems to come out of the wall, but it actually is a hose that comes out of your dryer and it is going outside. It leads to the outside of your home and right into the dryer ventilation system, although you may not see that path at all. Some of the lint is going to be too heavy or sticky to make it all the way through the line and will get stuck up on the walls along the way. You should take care of this at least once a year.

The final stop for lint, on the way out of your dryer, is the dryer vent. At the end of the line there is a flapper vent top. At this place the hot and steamy air is finally loose. Lint will continue to build up, of course, which is a big fire hazard and a big obstacle for your clothes dryer to do its work properly.
